It never served the purpose I had imagined it would and I never really had a handle on it as a creator. I plan on sticking around for a few more decades, and I know there are some groans when I say that, but tough! Just over 2 years ago, I wasn't sure if 53 was going to make the cut, and here I am, 60 pounds lighter and likely healthier than I have been in years. I turned 55 today, and I'm truly at a loss for words. Now the location of a post office, the site of Montgomery's Tavern was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1925.Yes, it's that time, when your OSR Tavern Keeper celebrates yet another year. In 1873, he received $3000 in compensation for the loss of his tavern. Montgomery moved to Markham Township in 1871 and served as postmaster there. He also operated a hotel at the north-east corner of Church Street and Colborne Street for over three years after his return. He rebuilt a new tavern on the site of the old one and continued to operate a number of taverns in Toronto. He escaped to Rochester, New York, where he became president of an association for Canadian refugees.Īfter receiving a pardon, Montgomery returned to Toronto in 1843. He was sentenced to be executed but his sentence was reduced and he was sent to Fort Henry to await exile to Tasmania. On December 7, on the orders of Francis Bond Head, the tavern was burned and Montgomery was arrested and charged with high treason. John Linfoot, who had leased the tavern and would take possession in February 1838, had already moved in at the time and Montgomery was in the process of moving out. In December, he was informed that his tavern would be the rebel base Montgomery was to serve as commissary. Although he signed a declaration of Toronto Reformers and joined a vigilance committee formed as a result in July 1837, Montgomery did not advocate open rebellion. He also helped found the Bank of the People in 1836. Sympathetic with the concerns of the Reformers, Montgomery helped send William Lyon Mackenzie to England in 1832 to present petitions to the British Colonial Office. Montgomery was also a road commissioner for York County and a director for the Mutual Insurance Company. He leased this inn out in 1830, and that year began building Montgomery's Tavern further south on Yonge Street. He operated a number of taverns in the York area, including The Bird in the Hand at Yonge Street and Finch Avenue, in 1828. Montgomery served on the Niagara frontier during the War of 1812 and fought in the Battle of Queenston Heights. In 1798, the family moved to York in Upper Canada. He was born in Gagetown, New Brunswick, the son of Alexander Montgomery who came there from Stamford, Connecticut after the American Revolution. His establishment was the site of the Battle of Montgomery's Tavern. John Montgomery (probably Febru– October 31, 1879) owned the tavern which served as a base for the rebels during the Upper Canada Rebellion.

Volume calculator cubic feet12/28/2022 The excavator may have dug too deep, or it may have rained and footings needed to be dug out deeper to reach firm soil. This was supposed to be a 12"*12" footing, but note how the left side of the footing has collapsed. In rocky soil the footings may collapse when big rocks are excavated Calculating the amount of concrete needed for footingsįootings will rarely follow the drawing exactly. Through the center the width averages 14'. Here is why: The driveway is 16' at the top and 12' at the bottom. Odd shapes: Transform odd shapes into rectangles and odd shapes are suddenly easy to figure.įigure driveway 14' x 20' and your estimate will be good. If you check your grade and one spot is 4", some spots are 4.5" to 5"-the best solution for both the job quality and your concrete budget is to fix the grade. This assumes you have the job evenly graded to the right depth, and the grade is well compacted. Rule of thumb: add 1/ 4" to the thickness of your slab for your slab concrete budget. CONCRETE ESTIMATING TIPSĪtlanta Brick & Concrete in Atlanta, GA Calculating the amount of concrete needed for slabs (including odd shapes) Ask your supplier if you'd like to know the exact weight. So if you need three yards, that would be around 12,000 lbs (3yds x 4,000lbs). However, most ready mix suppliers estimate that a cubic yard of concrete weighs about 4,000 lbs. How much does concrete weigh?Ĭoncrete is usually ordered in cubic yards, but if you're looking for concrete weight it varies depending on the type of mix being used. If your project requires more concrete, multiple trucks will be necessary. The average truck holds between 9 and 11 yards total. Many ready mix companies will have a minimum order of 1 yard, and will charge shortage fees when ordering partial batches. If you’re planning to order concrete from a ready mix supplier, they’ll need to know how many yards of concrete to deliver. Large patios, driveways, pool decks and more.Ready mixed concrete by the yard is good for: A rented mixer can be very helpful, but a wheelbarrow works for just a few bags. You’ll also need additional equipment for mixing the concrete. If you’re purchasing bagged concrete you may be able to have it delivered, but if it is only a few bags you’ll be responsible for transporting it yourself. Footings for decks, pergolas, walls and more.Making repairs to foundation walls, walkways or steps.Pouring small slabs for sidewalks or patios. For smaller jobs, like a walkway, modest patio or footings, you should calculate the number of concrete bags instead. Larger jobs such as driveways are easier to complete when ordering concrete by the yard, rather than trying to mix bag after bag by hand. BAGGED CONCRETE Should I order concrete by the yard from a ready mix company or just use bags? Use the following yields per each bag size: To determine how many bags of concrete you will need, divide the total cubic yards needed by the yield. For concrete, the formula for volume is as follows: length x width x thickness. Here’s what the math looks like for a 10’ by 10’ concrete patio:Įssentially you are solving for volume and then converting to cubic yards.
Outer wilds nomai12/27/2022 You eventually put on a space suit, where jet-packing around is even clunkier – and, somehow, Outer Wilds develops a control system that uses damn near every button on a typical Xbox controller just to navigate around properly. There’s no way to crouch, although the character ducks a little every time you prepare to jump. They jump low to the ground, and the run speed is slow. The playable character (a Hearthian) doesn’t move around very well. It’s something that is pretty easy to notice right away. Outer Wilds does a poor job introducing you to its vast systems. All of this, I’d argue, is still true despite knowing what I do now. Very little of what I explored made any sense, the physics system was cumbersome and awkward, and it felt like there were too many rules. In fact, the first time I picked up Outer Wilds, I quit. One of the first things I’ll note about Outer Wilds is that it’s really difficult to get into. There is a lot of nuance in between, but the only valuable way to talk about this game is from a post-play perspective – so that’s how I plan to do it. Within this solar system there are a handful of planets (each with a distinguishable terrain), a living species (called ‘Hearthians’) that explores these planets via the ‘Outer Wilds Ventures’ space program, an extinct species (called the Nomai), and a 22-minute time loop that closes with a devastating supernova that wipes the universe clean. At its core, Outer Wilds is about exploring a scaled-down solar system. While I’d wholeheartedly recommend that anyone reading this who hasn’t played Outer Wilds go and play it instead of continuing, I’ll provide a short framework for what Outer Wilds actually is, just in case. Something I’ll use as an excuse to wonder about the Outer Wilds universe a little longer. And so, instead of attempting to match its extraordinary design, I’ll relish the opportunity to write about what is undoubtedly one of the best video games of all time. It owns a vision that I could not have conceivably imagined, yet still feels distinctly human and artistic. I don’t say that to put it on a pedestal – it’s not beyond critique, and I’ll offer plenty of my own – but it’s bold in a way that’s hard not to appreciate. But the truth is, I’m unlikely to conjure up anything half as smart as Outer Wilds. It provided me with something untraditional, and it seems only fair that I’d return the favor when talking about it. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever played – and chances are, it’s unlike anything anyone has ever played. It’s through a distinct set of rules, through structures that are foreign to the things we as people think we know, that Outer Wilds crafts a sense of new and established that same wonder – the wonder of a hypothetical alien on Earth – in me.Īfter I finished Outer Wilds I couldn’t stop thinking about how I wanted to write about it. In Outer Wilds, I have no such assurances. For instance, on earth, I know that if I stare at a large boulder it will still be there if I were to do a quick spin. Its universe doesn’t follow the same set of rules that exist on Earth. Outer Wilds takes the things that we think we know, throws them in a blender, and spits them back out as something new. We don’t know what the alien will wonder about, exactly, but we do know that they will wonder. They might wonder why people sleep when the moon shines but not when the sun is up. They might wonder why we stop when the light turns red, or even what the concept of color might be in the first place. Playing Outer Wilds, I imagine, is much what it would feel like for an intelligent alien to step foot on Earth for the first time. The following content involves spoilers and a post-play perspective. If you really want a *nix OS and photography get a Mac and call it a day. I'm not saying it can't be done but it's so easy on more established operating systems (Windows and OSX) it makes little sense wasting time trying to set it up in freeware Linux. Good luck setting up a color calibrated workflow in Linux. Trouble installing photoninja software#If you do find software the meets your needs for organizing and developing photographs you'll then likely be interested in making prints. Linux is a crap platform for photography and here is why. There is nothing wrong with the version of Lightroom you use now. Trouble installing photoninja pro#Despite being a long-time licensed AfterShot Pro owner. Personally, I still use LR 4.x in a Windows 7 virtual machine, because it works best for me. Darktable (if you can wrap your brain around the UI and tolerate the lack of speed) Lightzone UFRaw+gimp Digikam etc. There are much better Linux alternatives. The long-term users and supporters, plugin developers, and unhappy folks like me ( Quicksand on that forum) are leaving in droves. Go to the AfterShot Pro forum, read a few threads, and drink in the customer dissatisfaction. Their library is buggy and selecting/deleting pictures from it will sometimes result in the WRONG ORIGINAL RAW FILES BEING DELETED from your hard disk - this has affected me personally. Highlight recovery is terrible, and the best you can hope for, in most cases, is a flat gray area with no detail around specular highlights sometimes you'll get pink rings. There are longstanding bugs that they have known about for literally years. Trouble installing photoninja code#They used to have an license with Picture Code for Noise Ninja, but that agreement has expired and it has been replaced with essentially nothing useful. It doesn't have any kind of decent high-ISO noise removal. New cameras go for a year or more without any support. Occasionally there are some signs of life, in the form of posts from Corel employees on their forum, but overall, it's pretty much dead: Sorry Corel, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice. It's essentially abandonware at this point, though Corel claims to support it, and they claim to be working on a 2.0 version. I have been a user since before Corel's acquisition - when it was Bibble Pro. AfterShot Pro is terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible. PS: It happens with Lightroom regardless of whether or not "Use graphics processor" is ticked.I'm glad you asked. Trouble installing photoninja Pc#The PC has lots of air around it and is not in a warm room. Disabling 'monitor temperature' didn't help.Īll vents are clear (including the one under the power supply) and boards/fans free from dust. I cannot find a temperature cutoff setting in the BIOS. When I installed the new power supply, I reset the BIOS. A temperature ditty (Corsair Link) I installed is showing a CPU/MB temperature of ~70 degrees when it shuts down. I suspected a heat problem and replaced the 350W power supply with a 650W one (from PC specialist) but it's still happening. So probably not a software bug as it's the same for both apps. When processing a photo (and importing/exporting in Lightroom) the PC will often spontaneously power down no warning. I have a system that has been rock solid until I started using it in photo processing software specifically Lightroom CC (latest) and Photo Ninja (latest). AuthorWrite something about yourself.
